Split Packs: buying fewer slabs than a full pack
Most of our paving comes in sealed packs straight from the manufacturer. If you don’t need a full pack, many of our products are also available as a smaller split pack. Here’s how that works, and what it means for your delivery.
Opened in our yard
The original crate or banding is opened in our yard.
Counted and checked
Your slabs are counted out and checked.
Restacked and wrapped
They’re restacked on a pallet with protective spacers between slabs, then strapped and wrapped for transit.
What is a split pack?
A split pack is a full manufacturer’s pack that our warehouse team opens and breaks down by hand into a smaller pack size, shown on the product page.
Why split packs are more fragile in transit
Factory packs are built to travel – tightly crated, banded and stacked to the manufacturer’s spec. Once a pack has been opened and rebuilt by hand, it can’t be made as rigid as the original, so slabs have more room to move on the journey. Porcelain edges and corners are especially vulnerable. We take great care packing every split pack, but the risk of a chip or crack is higher than with a sealed pack.
When your delivery arrives
- Check your slabs while the driver is there. If anything is visibly damaged, don’t accept the delivery – the driver will take it back and we’ll send a replacement at no extra cost.
- If you find breakage after delivery, report it as soon as you can, and within 28 days, using our Report Breakage form. Include at least two photos: one of the pallet and one close-up of each damaged slab.
- Split packs are covered by our breakage policy in the same way as full packs.
Good to know
- Your slabs all come from a single pack, so they’ll be from the same batch. Natural variation in colour and pattern is normal, so we recommend dry-laying and mixing slabs before you fix them.
- A split pack is an opened pack, so it can’t be returned if you change your mind. Please check quantities carefully before ordering – our patio calculator can help.
- Split packs may add 1 working day to dispatch.
How to order
Split packs are listed on the product page in the ‘Your packs’ table, alongside the full pack (for example ‘5.67m² Split Pack’). Use the + button to add the one you need – you’ll see the price before you add it to your basket.
